Chrome download text files rather than open

Thank you for the information. I tried opening sample PDFs and checked PDF setting as well. It still downloads them rather than opening them. The same goes for Word Docs. The problem is not so much that they don't open in the correct app, more that Chrome always chooses to download files instead of opening them directly. Answer: It is simple. Go to settings and then advanced settings. Now go to site settings and then to PDF documents. In PDF documents, disable 'Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome' as shown in figure. Now, chrome will open pdf's instead of directly downloading them. I have the setting off, and the browser still forces me to download the file. After downloading it I can click on the downloaded file inside Chrome and it opens fine in the web browser. Google MUST FIX THIS NOW!. If you click bltadwin.ru file anywhere, it will open in the browser player instead of downloading, and you have no option to prevent it from doing so, meaning that the right-click menu which would allow you to choose it to download it or open it in the future is not showing. Forget pdf files.. say you search for a ppt file and want to open it. Unlike browsers such as IE/Opera, which give you an "Open" option when you download, Chrome gives me "Keep" and "Discard".
